Structures and buildings
The built environment relies upon structures, from high-rise buildings and bridges, to the streets and communities where we live and work. Engineers analyse and design, looking at aspects including strength and durability, to ensure they are safe and able to withstand pressures such as earthquakes, severe weather, blasts, and fire.
This section represents the work of ICE's Structures Panel, who develop, promote, and share best practice among the construction profession. They also provide practical advice and guidance, and influence government, legislative, and industrial policy.
