ASCE News

Civil Engineering is the award-winning monthly magazine of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Established in 1930, Civil Engineeringpresents-in news, departments, and features--information about significant projects, events, and trends of interest to civil engineers. The mix of articles included in each issue is designed to appeal to a broad range of readers, who represent the full spectrum of civil engineering disciplines: architectural engineering, structural engineering, geoenvironmental and geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, coastal engineering, and environmental and water resources engineering. Regardless of length, articles are designed to provide readers with substantive information about a topic so that when taken as a whole, each issue of the magazine contributes to the reader's knowledge of the practice and profession of civil engineering. Civil Engineering's more than 100,000 readers are civil engineers working for engineering firms or for government agencies or authorities in the United States and abroad.

Civil Engineering is edited for a well-educated and well-read readership--a readership that is also sophisticated in terms of the use of photography and graphics. With respect to the graphic design of the magazine, the layout of each article is developed to strengthen--or reinforce--the editorial focus of the article. The design objectives of the magazine as a whole are to strengthen the readers' understanding of civil engineering, to showcase civil engineering projects in ways that enhance the creators' pride in the projects, and to make the magazine a pleasure to read.
